In "null," Daffy Duck tries to outwit a hungry, escaped lion by pulling out the old "grateful lion" routine—only to find himself on the receiving end when the lion removes a thorn from his own foot. What follows is a series of increasingly exaggerated displays of "undying gratitude" that leave Daffy scrambling to keep up, all while the lion remains blissfully unimpressed.
