Peter Cottontail encounters Doc Puck and a magician who attempts to turn Peter into a ducktail ship, leading to chaos when Peter's flapping disturbs the peace and results in his arrest. Later, Peter and his friends discover that Old Mr. Wolf has been growing vegetables in his garden, and when the wolf sets up a scarecrow to protect his crops, Peter devises a plan to place a crow on it to scare away birds. However, the scheme backfires when a young girl in a red cloak who passes through the garden daily begins eating the vegetables herself, and Peter realizes the scarecrow has proven ineffective against her appetite, leaving him to explain the situation to the frustrated wolf.
