“Money to Burn”

Reggie Mantle is all smiles aboard a red paddleboat with Veronica, splashing across a sunny lake while Archie and a companion look on from the dock — and the cover gag says it all: "Reggie's paddleboat never runs out of gas… neither does Reggie!" This October 1972 issue of Pep captures the breezy, beachside charm of the Riverdale gang in full summer mode, with a crowd of familiar faces lounging behind the logo as well. Cover pencils by Stan Goldberg and inks by Jon D'Agostino give the whole scene that bright, warmly polished Archie look that made the series such a pleasure.
