“The Cure”

Pep #269 delivers a perfectly timed doorstep comedy, with Archie and Veronica sharing a goodnight kiss just out of sight — or so they think — while Hiram Lodge stands in the open doorway, exasperated, asking if Archie knows how to say goodnight. Veronica's breezy reply, "Yes, Daddy! Better than any boy I know!", says everything. Dan DeCarlo's pencils and Jon D'Agostino's inks frame the whole scene with that warm, breezy charm the Archie gang carried so well in 1972, with a beachside vignette of the gang tucked cheerfully above the logo.
