“Everything's Archie”

The Archies are set up and ready to rock, but something's gone wrong with the gear — the cover of Pep #227 (March 1969) catches the band mid-crisis as a repairman crouches over a wall of amplifiers while Archie fields the pointed question, "Who's the most important member of your group?" with the punchline hanging right there in a speech bubble: "Our electronic repairman!!" Dan DeCarlo's cover pencils perfectly capture the groovy, psychedelic energy of the era, with the full Archies lineup on stage surrounded by swirling paisley backdrops. It's a fun, warmly funny snapshot of Riverdale's favorite band at their most charmingly hapless.
