Out of the Vortex #2

Part of Dark Horse's Comics' Greatest World line, this 1993 issue of Out of the Vortex brings the story "Destroyer of Worlds" with a cover by Mike Mignola that wastes no time setting a tense, otherworldly tone. Two armored figures clash in brutal close quarters — a dark, horned warrior driving a serrated blade into a gold-and-black mechanized opponent whose spherical helmet absorbs the blow amid a burst of crackling energy, all set against a murky, spatter-pocked purple void. Interior work from writer John Ostrander, artist Damon Willis, and inker Joe Rubinstein promises the same kinetic energy that Mignola's cover so vividly captures.
