Our Army at War #213
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis December 1969 DC issue puts Easy Company's big-shouldered bruiser Bulldozer front and center, his helmet-labeled head reacting with raw emotion as a returned letter — stamped "Address Unknown" and "Return to Addressee" — is thrust toward him by a battle-worn hand, with his fellow soldiers looming in the background. The cover dialogue — "Easy Co. read your letter, Bulldozer… now we know the whole dirty story!" — promises something deeply personal beneath the mud and gunfire of WWII combat. Joe Kubert's cover art gives the moment genuine dramatic weight, and with Robert Kanigher writing and Russ Heath on interior art, Our Army at War #213 is a fine example of the thoughtful, character-driven war storytelling DC was producing at its best.
