Bud Fisher's beloved comic duo is back in this 52-big-pages DC edition from 1950, with a cover by Sheldon Mayer that sets the tone perfectly: the tall, lanky Mutt and the short, rotund Jeff are bundled up against a snowy winter day, yet Jeff has set up an outdoor stand hawking flypaper at 25 cents for two sheets. Mutt's baffled question — "You're selling flypaper in the winter? Why?" — gets the only logical answer from Jeff: "No competition!" It's the kind of deadpan, everyman humor that made this strip a fixture of American comedy, delivered with warm charm and impeccable timing.
