Vertigo's supernatural series reaches its sixth installment with a cover by Tomer Hanuka that crackles with eerie, acid-yellow atmosphere — two dark-haired women with glowing eyes face off across the foreground while a monstrous, luminous figure battles something on the staircase behind them, a black cat creeping along the bottom edge completing the unsettling tableau. Writer John Rozum and artist Jesús Saiz (inked by Jimmy Palmiotti) bring "The Daughters of Kali" to life in this November 2002 issue, suggesting the kind of occult tension that has made Midnight, Mass. one of Vertigo's more intriguing horror offerings.
