Master of Kung Fu #83

The cover of this December 1979 issue says it all: a massive, looming Fu Manchu dominates the background while a determined, bare-chested Shang-Chi stands ready in the foreground, flanked by a coiling, fanged serpent that looks poised to strike. Mike Zeck's cover art — both penciled and inked by him — delivers a genuinely arresting composition, with flames rising below and that imposing face overhead creating a real sense of danger closing in from every direction. With Doug Moench writing and Mike Zeck illustrating, "Warriors of the Golden Dawn Part 1: The Phoenix and the Snake" promises a tense chapter in one of Marvel's most compelling martial-arts adventures of the era.
