While scouting out land for the Governor Tom Mix discovers gold. He intends to stake a claim and then turn over the land to the new settlers that the Governor wants to deed the land to. Unfortunately, Rangy Joe sees him find the gold nugget and he and his two friends attempt to kill him before he can stake the claim.
