Marvel Zombies #3

The third chapter of Robert Kirkman, Sean Phillips, and June Chung's five-part limited series arrives with one of 2006's most unsettling cover images: Arthur Suydam's painted depiction of a zombified Wolverine — decayed flesh, hollow socket, and protruding eyeball — with those unmistakable adamantium claws raised in the foreground, while a second ravaged zombie face looms in the background. Suydam's painterly style gives the horror a grotesque beauty that perfectly captures the series' dark premise of Marvel's heroes turned undead.
