Marvel Zombies #2

The undead Avengers have never looked quite like this — Arthur Suydam's painted cover for issue two of five presents a decayed Captain America front and center, shield in hand and jaw agape, surrounded by a rotting Hulk, Thor, and Iron Man, with a diminutive Wasp visible in the background. Kirkman, Phillips, and Chung bring the interior darkness to match this deeply unsettling 2006 vision of Marvel's mightiest heroes reduced to shambling, flesh-hungry monsters. It's a genuinely compelling piece of horror-tinged superhero storytelling that holds up as one of the more striking limited series Marvel published that year.
