“Manhunters from the Stars!”

In "Manhunters from the Stars!", a childlike alien named Wundarr crash-lands near Namorita, sparking a chaotic chase that brings him to New York and into a clash with the Thing. Written by Steve Gerber and brought to life with dynamic art by Gil Kane and inks by Joe Sinnott, this 1974 issue unfolds as the Thing must protect Wundarr from a relentless alien pursuit—aided by Namor and his cousin—before the giant robot sent to eliminate him overwhelms them all. The cover by John Romita captures the tension, with Wundarr’s wide-eyed innocence contrasting the looming threat of his own kind.

The child-like alien, Wundarr, falls into the ocean near Namorita but flees when Namor arrives and menaces him. Arriving in New York, Wundarr battles the Thing until Namor and his cousin show up and explain to Grimm that he has the mind of a child and means no harm. The Thing and his allies then have to save Wundarr from his alien people who have sent a giant robot to kill him. With the Dakkams driven off, Namor and Nita leave Wundarr in the tender loving care of a very unhappy Thing.
