Marvel Comics Presents #71

This 1991 anthology issue pairs two of Marvel's most intense anti-heroes — Wolverine and Ghost Rider — in a striking cover by John Byrne that says it all: claws bared and flaming skull blazing, the two face down the menacing figure of Deathwatch looming large above them. The tag line "In the Shadow of Deathwatch…" sets a genuinely ominous tone, with Byrne's dynamic composition pitting raw fury against hellfire in a way that's hard to look away from. If you're following either hero's early-'90s adventures, this is a fine place to be.
