Marmaduke Mouse is making the most of his resources in this September 1956 issue from Quality Comics — the cover shows our grinning hero seated in a makeshift matchbox boat, churning through choppy water using what appears to be a hand-cranked mechanical propeller. It's a wonderfully inventive little scene that captures the scrappy, can-do spirit that made this funny-animal series a perennial treat for young readers.
