Marmaduke Mouse #42

Marmaduke Mouse races to meet Mamie Mouse at one o'clock sharp, but a chaotic chain of mishaps—involving a runaway truck, an angry construction worker, and a building that seems determined to keep him from street level—turns his simple date into a comedic nightmare. By the time he finally reaches Mamie, hours have passed and she's furious with him for being late, leaving poor Marmaduke to wonder if he'll ever catch a break.

Marmaduke Mouse gets pressured by his scheming pal Cuthbert Cat to fight Maxie Bear, the heavyweight champion at the county fair, for a hundred-dollar prize—but Marmaduke would rather stay out of trouble. After some fast talk and a lucky early knockdown, Marmaduke finds himself in the ring facing the real thing, and he'll have to survive three rounds however he can. It's a scrappy tale of an underdog (literally) in way over his head, with plenty of comic chaos and determination.

When Marmaduke Mouse's inventor pal Foolish Fox shows up for dinner with a suitcase full of contraptions, what starts as a meal turns into a hilarious disaster as each gadget malfunctions in increasingly spectacular ways. That night, as Marmaduke drifts off to sleep, he dreams of Foolish's latest invention—magical growth pills—which he uses to finally stand up to his longtime bully, Cuthbert Cat, leading to a wild chain of events that tests the limits of their friendship.
