Mad #62
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeMad's self-proclaimed "Special March Winds Issue" finds Alfred E. Neuman perched atop a weather vane arrow, grinning and pointing with characteristic breezy confidence, flanked by an imposing rusty rooster weathervane on the left and a rearing green horse weathervane on the right — with a whole rooftop village of smaller weathervanes (a dog, a horse-drawn carriage) stretching out behind him against a cloudy sky. Kelly Freas renders the scene with a pleasingly painterly touch that gives the metalwork real weight and texture. For 25 cents in 1961, this issue also features "The Total Sell," with writing by Gary Belkin and art by Wally Wood — a fine lineup for any fan of Mad at its sharpest.
