“A Mad Look at Las Vegas”

Alfred E. Neuman has never looked more at home than here, decked out in a purple tuxedo and rolling what appears to be a bag of dog waste across a craps table — because MAD wouldn't have it any other way. A wonderfully absurd crowd of dogs (Great Dane, Old English Sheepdog, poodle, Borzoi, and several more) peers over the felt rail like high-roller spectators, making Mark Frederickson's cover a genuinely delightful piece of work. Issue #48 rounds out the gag with Peter Kuper's "A Mad Look at Las Vegas," promising the magazine's trademark satirical eye turned on the city that never sleeps — or stops losing money.
