A hauntingly beautiful cover by Mike Kaluta opens "Evensong, Part 1 of 2" — a towering, pale figure dominates the image, its face dissolving into smoke and shadow against a backdrop of tropical palms, while a tiny tuxedoed pianist plays atop a grand piano bearing the word "Lux," cradled in enormous hands. The contrast between the miniature human figure and the vast, spectral presence above gives the image a quietly unsettling sense of scale and mystery. Mike Carey, Peter Gross, and Aaron Alexovich's 2006 Vertigo run continues to deliver that rare blend of the mythic and the intimate that has made this series so compelling.
