Lucifer #63

The Morningstar arc begins here with issue #63 of Vertigo's acclaimed series, and Mike Kaluta's cover sets a quietly unnerving tone: Lucifer — red-haired, suited, cigarette in hand — presses himself against a doorframe, his great feathered wings folded behind him, while a tongue of flame licks at the edge of the frame beside him. There's something almost furtive in his expression, a tension that makes you want to know exactly what's on the other side of that door. With Mike Carey writing and Peter Gross and Ryan Kelly on interior art, this six-part "Morningstar" storyline promises the kind of morally intricate storytelling that made this series one of Vertigo's most compelling runs of 2005.
