Lucifer #64
In the foreground, a sharp-dressed figure with flame-wreathed auburn hair grips an ornate blade pointed directly at the viewer, his expression cold and intent — while Lucifer himself stands in the mid-ground, dark-winged and imperious against a backdrop of writhing, tormented forms. MW Kaluta's cover for this 2005 Vertigo issue sets a genuinely unsettling tone, balancing quiet menace with hellish grandeur. Part two of the six-part "Morningstar" arc, written by Mike Carey with interior art by Peter Gross and Ryan Kelly, this is the series at the height of its ambition.
