A charming piece of wartime Americana, this July 1944 Dell issue puts Bugs Bunny and Porky Pig front and center in a patriotic pitch — Bugs cheerfully declaring "Okay, Doc! One for me and one for you!!" as the two share what appears to be cash in front of a prominently displayed $100 War Savings Bond Series E made out to "Mr. and Mrs. America, #1 Main Street, U.S.A." The cover's banner message, "Buy One of These Bonds Today!," shows how seamlessly the Looney Tunes gang was woven into the home-front effort. Carl Buettner's warm, expressive linework brings real personality to this snapshot of pop culture and patriotism working hand in hand.
