Together with their human ally Simon Walterson, this unlikely squad faces threats too small for the Avengers proper, blending all-ages adventure with classic Marvel whimsy.
In "The Infinity Gems," Lockjaw stumbles upon the Mind Gem and races to Earth after a scolding from Medusa, leading to an unlikely alliance with Throg—the frog-powered Thor—and a ragtag team of super-pets including Lockheed the dragon, Redwing, Hairball, and Ms. Lion. Together, they embark on a quest to gather the Infinity Gems, heading straight for the Savage Land where danger lurks in the form of a dinosaur. Written by Chris Eliopoulos and illustrated by Ig Guara and Colleen Coover, with covers by Humberto Ramos, this 2010 Marvel adventure blends whimsy and heroism in a story that’s as surprising as it is heartfelt.
In "The Infinity Gems," Lockjaw stumbles upon the Mind Gem and flees to Earth, where he teams up with Throg—the frog-like hero wielding Thor’s powers—and a motley crew of super-pets including Lockheed the dragon, Redwing the falcon, Hairball the cat, and Ms. Lion, Aunt May’s dog. Together, they set off on a quest to gather the Infinity Gems, venturing into the perilous Savage Land where a new gem awaits—and so does a hungry dinosaur.
In "We Are Simple Creatures on a Monumental Quest," the Pet Avengers—Jo, Lockjaw, and the rest—race through time and prehistoric peril, chasing the third Infinity Gem with Zabu by their side. After a tense standoff with Devil Dinosaur and a rampaging raptor guarding the gem in a nest of dinosaur eggs, they make a daring escape, only to find their next destination far from home: the open ocean.
In "We Are a Band of Brothers," the Pet Avengers race through the White House and across the ocean floor in a wild chase for the Infinity Gems, led by a determined Jo and her furry crew. When the gems finally unite, Thanos arrives—unimpressed by their antics but very much interested in what they’ve found.
In "null," the Pet Avengers face off against Thanos on the White House lawn, battling for the Infinity Gems and the fate of the universe. With courage and a touch of magic, Lockjaw harnesses the gems to defeat the cosmic conqueror and seal him away—then uses their power to forge a psychic bond among the team, ensuring they can reunite when danger calls.
In "Beginnings and Endings," frog Thor protects his amphibian community from a menacing alligator, but after the threat passes, he faces a quiet, heartfelt decision: to leave so his people can grow without him. The story captures a tender moment of sacrifice and growth, rendered with warmth and whimsy in this five-page tale.
In "Prom Queen," Lockheed, the mischievous alien dragon, steps in to support a shy girl at a high school near the Xavier School, standing by her as she defies the teasing of her classmates who mock her love for dragons. With quiet courage and a touch of whimsy, he helps her face the pressures of high school, turning an ordinary day into something unforgettable.
