“Ars Longa, Vita Fraggis!”

The Main Man grins with characteristic menace on this January 1999 issue, his chain-wrapped fist clutching what appears to be a lit explosive while a planet erupts in cascading fireballs behind him — and a second snarling, drooling creature lurks at his side for good measure. The tagline "Lobo Is Da Bomb!" says it all, capturing the irreverent, over-the-top energy that writers Keith Giffen and Alan Grant brought to the series throughout its run. Cover art by Greg Luzniak and Mark Propst delivers a wonderfully chaotic tableau worthy of the story title "Ars Longa, Vita Fraggis!" — which is about as Lobo a Latin pun as you're likely to find.
