“Soul 2 Soul”

Tied into DC's 1995 "Underworld Unleashed" crossover event, this issue of Lobo pits the Main Man against a massive, monstrous green creature in a collision of pure, unhinged energy. Vince Giarrano's cover captures the brawl in kinetic detail — Lobo's white face twisted in a snarl, locking up with his hulking, fang-mouthed green adversary while a DDT-labeled weapon crackles between them amid billowing explosions. With Alan Grant scripting and Giarrano handling both pencils and inks, "Soul 2 Soul" looks like exactly the kind of gloriously chaotic Lobo story the character was made for.
