When Little Joe accidentally breaks a neighbor's window, he has to earn money to pay for the damages—and the only way is to join his friends' newspaper operation as a reporter. As the taffy gets progressively dirtier and harder to manage, the young entrepreneurs discover that the real obstacle to their business venture might be their own appetites.

When Aunt Amanda arrives for her yearly visit, she confidently takes charge of Little Eva—confident that she can show the family how to raise a child without all the fuss and exhaustion. But Little Eva's innocent game of make-believe with Freddy and Nipper spirals into painted polka-dots and mystery ailments that send Aunt Amanda into a panic, complete with an emergency call to Dr. Rogers.
