A massive golden serpent lunges straight at the reader, its fangs bared and eyes blazing — it's an arresting image that earns the "Snake-Skinned!" banner across the top of this July 1999 issue. Behind it, a grimacing Legionnaire in white squares off against a fierce green reptilian figure, the whole scene crackling with fiery energy rendered by cover penciler Alan Davis and inker Mark Farmer.
