Lazarus #17
Perched high atop what appears to be a massive piece of industrial machinery or rail equipment, a sharp-eyed young woman surveys the scene below with quiet intensity — while a squad of heavily armed, helmeted soldiers moves through a bleak urban landscape beneath her. Owen Freeman's cover composition makes masterful use of scale and tension, placing the lone figure in calm contrast to the military force below. Greg Rucka, Michael Lark, and Santi Arcas kick off "Poison Part One" in this 2015 Image series, and the atmosphere here promises the kind of deliberate, grounded sci-fi storytelling that makes Lazarus so compelling.
