Lazarus #18
Two armored women stride back-to-back through a war-torn environment, one leveling a pistol as spent casings fly and fire erupts behind them, while a propaganda-style poster bearing an older man's face looms on a crumbling wall — Owen Freeman's cover for Lazarus #18 is tense and beautifully composed. Greg Rucka and Michael Lark's dystopian series continues with "Poison Part Two," and this image captures the series' signature blend of brutal action and political atmosphere perfectly. Santi Arcas's muted, gritty color palette gives the whole scene a lived-in urgency that makes this one of 2015's most visually striking Image titles.
