Lazarus #16

The cover of this 2015 Image title says a great deal with elegant restraint — a laminated ID badge bearing the name "Bernaku" and the photo of a woman in a nun's habit hangs from a chain against a dark, dramatically red-lit background, suggesting questions of identity and disguise at the heart of the "Mercy" storyline. It's a quietly unsettling image, the kind of cover that draws you in through atmosphere rather than action. Greg Rucka, Michael Lark, Santi Arcas, and the rest of the Lazarus creative team consistently deliver this sort of sharp, thoughtful storytelling, and issue #16 looks to be no exception.
