The issue contains two stories. "Desperate Chance" by Walter Farmer tells of a young woman named Sally Bell stranded in the desert without food or water who encounters a masked rider and decides to take her chances with him, hoping he might be her only opportunity for rescue. In "Lash LaRue and the Return of the Frontier Phantom," Lash pursues a criminal who has been peddling dope in the territory, working with a lawman named Mangy to track down the suspect and recover evidence including a poisoned creek and a missing hat.
