When Marshal Lash LaRue arrives in Sockeye Valley for a surprise birthday party, he crosses paths with a visiting dignitary known as the King—only to discover the man has been kidnapped by a band of hired outlaws plotting to collect a hefty ransom. With the clock ticking and danger closing in from all sides, Lash must track down the missing King before the criminals make good on their scheme.

Dusty and Dink's schoolday memories become a battlefield of wisecracks when Dink asks for a ten-dollar loan and gets turned down flat. What follows is a rapid-fire exchange of insults and half-remembered classroom trivia, escalating from the banker's whereabouts to Dink's questionable cooking and finally to a near-fight that neither man seems quite ready to have.
