“Ruines de mort”

In "Ruines de mort," Denny O'Neil and Al McWilliams introduce the Avenger—Richard Benson—whose face, frozen in trauma after the kidnapping of his wife and child, gains the uncanny ability to reshape itself at will. With the support of his organization Justice, Inc., he becomes a figure of mystery and resolve in a world where identity is as fluid as the ruins around him. The cover by Jack Kirby and Mike Royer captures the stark, haunting tone of this early chapter in Kamandi’s journey.
