Adventure Comics #187

This 1953 DC gem features a cover by penciler Curt Swan and inker Ray Burnley that perfectly captures the sense of wonder promised by the story "The 25th Century Superboy." A startled Superboy looks on as several ordinary citizens of what appears to be a gleaming futuristic city take to the skies with ease, while a man in a green suit waves goodbye to a woman at their doorway, casually promising to be home for dinner — as if flight were the most natural thing in the world. It's a delightfully charming premise, rendered with Curt Swan's clean, inviting linework at just a dime a copy.
