Justice Society of America #33
The haunting tagline "Divided We...?" says it all — Justice Society of America #33 confronts the JSA with what may be their most difficult challenge yet: a fracture from within. Jesús Merino's cover dramatically splits the team into two distinct factions, with veteran heroes like the Golden Age Green Lantern, Wildcat, and Dr. Fate looming large above while a younger contingent — including Stargirl, Cyclone, and Judomaster among others — stands its ground below. Writers Bill Willingham and Matthew Sturges bring their "Bad Seed" arc to a pivotal fifth chapter, and this January 2010 issue makes clear that whatever is tearing America's oldest superhero team apart, the consequences will be felt on both sides of the divide.

The JSAers hold off the villains until Dr. Fate puts an end to the fight. In the middle of the fight Mr. America and King Chimera realize that All-American Kid is the traitor in their midst, but the Kid neutralizes them and delivers Obsidian to his associate. Before the Kid can make his escape, Mr. Terrific confronts him, knowing that he is really Kid Carnevil, and knocks him out with a T-sphere. In the clean-up, the members begin to disagree about tactics again and Liberty Belle suggests that they need to split up.
