“The Monster Bug!”

From the creator of Doc Savage, Kenneth Robeson, comes this 1975 DC thriller pitting the Avenger against a horde of grotesque creatures swarming a speeding open-top automobile — red, yellow, and purple monstrosities clawing and grappling in a chaotic, kinetic clash that fills every inch of the cover. Jack Kirby's pencils (inked by Al Milgrom) give each creature a distinct, unsettling menace, making the cover promise feel genuinely urgent: "The Avenger is hurtling toward his doom — unless he can stop the Monster Bug!" With Dennis O'Neil writing and Kirby on interior art, this pulp-flavored series had serious creative firepower behind it.
