Bad luck has never been funnier — this April 1991 issue of Jughead serves up a cover by Dan DeCarlo where Archie and Jughead walk wide-eyed under a ladder while a black cat crosses their path and another cat scrambles atop the ladder above them, all classic omens stacking up at once. A group of their Riverdale pals watches the chaos unfold nearby, and Jughead's deadpan punchline — that the real disaster is Beazly serving cafeteria leftovers again — sets the tone perfectly for the interior tale "Food Fight." It's a cheerful, gag-packed snapshot of everything that makes the Archie universe so enduringly fun, right down to the Archie 50th Anniversary badge proudly displayed on the cover.
