Jughead #177
This February 1970 Archie Series entry puts Jughead's legendary laziness front and center, with a three-panel cover — penciled by Dan DeCarlo and inked by Rudy Lapick — that tells its own little comedy: upstairs, a figure gets catapulted into the air with a cheerful "One… two… three… heave!"; in the middle panel, Jughead and Archie cheerfully agree to do homework together; and in the payoff below, Jughead is lounging in front of the TV, leaving Archie at the desk, promising to narrate exactly what he's missing on-screen. At just 15 cents, it's a warm slice of Riverdale charm that perfectly captures why Jughead's particular brand of resourceful slacking has always been so endearing.
