Jughead #157
Few characters have mastered the art of doing absolutely nothing quite like Jughead Jones, and this June 1968 Archie Series issue captures him in peak form — sprawled contentedly in a yellow hammock, crown beanie and all, while two teens on bicycles ride past and remark that Juggie is "the only one whose self-winding watch always runs down." Dan DeCarlo's cover pencils nail the lazy-summer charm with a small snack setup beside the hammock and a bonus gag at the top of the cover showing a figure getting comically bonked on the head. It's a warm, funny snapshot of Riverdale life at its most easygoing.
