“Party Boy”

Jughead's appetite has never been more perfectly captured than on this January 1968 cover by Dan DeCarlo — there's our beanie-topped hero gleefully loading up on food at what was meant to be a button party, arms full of snacks while a button-adorned girl scolds him with the speech bubble, "Jughead, I said this was to be a button party, not a glutton party!" Behind them, a lively crowd of teens in groovy late-'60s fashions dance and mingle, oblivious to Jughead's one-track mind. It's a wonderfully warm snapshot of Riverdale fun, perfectly setting the stage for the interior story "Party Boy.
