“Dredd Again”

The cover of this 1995 DC issue says it plainly: "Dredd Again!" — and the striking image by J. H. Williams III (inked by Mark McKenna) frames a solemn, ceremonial moment, with a fallen Judge Dredd laid out in what appears to be a glass casket bearing an R.I.P. plaque, while a woman in Judge armor and a helmeted male figure stand vigil before a backdrop of the American flag and rows of saluting Judges. The tension between that mournful tableau and the defiant "again" in the tagline makes this one of the more intriguing covers of the series' DC run. Writer Andrew Helfer leads a full creative team — including artists Randy Green, Christian Alamy, and Doug Selogy — in what promises to be a charged chapter in Mega-City One's ongoing saga.
