Judge Dredd #12

Judge Dredd gets right in a grinning villain's face on this striking 1995 DC issue, the armored lawman gripping the suspect by the collar while growling the Miranda warning — "You have the right to remain silent…" — with his Lawgiver raised and ready. The dynamic close-up composition, with its burst of yellow and orange behind Dredd's helmeted scowl, makes the tension between judge and perp feel almost uncomfortably personal. With J. H. Williams III on cover pencils and the creative team of Andrew Helfer, Williams, and Doug Selogy driving "A Different World," issue #12 is a confident, hard-edged chapter in this DC run.
