Against a blazing pink-and-purple sunset sky, Jonah Hex fills the cover with raw, unflinching menace — both pistols leveled and one already roaring with a burst of muzzle fire, his scarred face locked in a fierce, teeth-baring grimace beneath that trademark wide-brimmed hat. Howard Chaykin's cover work captures the scarred bounty hunter at his most dangerous, a frontier town silhouetted ominously in the background. Writers Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti, with interior art by Luke Ross, bring another self-contained Western tale to this April 2006 issue — and a story titled "The Time I Almost Died" promises exactly the kind of grim, hard-riding drama Hex does best.
