John Constantine: Hellblazer #6

Part of DC's Sandman Universe Black Label line, this 2020 issue of John Constantine: Hellblazer carries a cover by John Paul Leon that is quietly unsettling in the best possible way — a lone figure in a red coat walks away from us down a dim, industrial hospital corridor toward a blinding white light, while a trail of blood spatters the floor in the foreground beside the story's title: "Quiet." The restraint of that image does more atmospheric work than a dozen screaming monsters ever could, and it pairs beautifully with Jordie Bellaire's muted, blood-tinged palette. With Simon Spurrier writing and Aaron Campbell on interior art, this Hellblazer run continues to deliver the kind of mature, moody storytelling the character deserves.
