John Constantine: Hellblazer #5

Part of DC's Sandman Universe line under the Black Label imprint, this 2020 issue frames John Constantine in a striking ceremonial tableau — trench coat and all, he stands framed within an ornate gothic archway, gripping an elaborate sword while a crown rests on a cushion before a kneeling figure, the whole scene flanked by angelic figures and stained-glass-style crowds rendered in warm golds and ambers. It's a regal, almost unsettling image that suggests Constantine occupying a position of power he was never quite meant to hold, rendered with quiet gravitas by cover artist John Paul Leon. Simon Spurrier and Matías Bergara continue "Scrubbing Up, Part Two" inside, with Jordie Bellaire's colors sure to carry that same moody richness throughout.
