The Losers are assigned to establish an observation post with the help of Major Geoffrey Soames, but the Major, traumatized by the deaths of his entire regiment, suffers terrible nightmares. When the men hide from the Japanese beneath the ruins of a Japanese temple, Soames' fear takes over and he dies as he dreamed he would.
