“Manhattan Interlude”

House of Mystery #310 brings DC's "I…Vampire!" feature front and center with a cover by Michael Wm. Kaluta that is genuinely hard to look away from — a pale, tormented vampire face fills nearly the entire frame, fangs bared and a single crimson tear trailing from one yellow eye, his dark cape rising at the edge like a closing shadow. The raw emotional weight Kaluta captures in that one bloodstained tear makes this a striking piece of 1982 horror art. Inside, Dan Mishkin, Gary Cohn, and Adrian Gonzales take the vampire tale to the streets of Manhattan in "Manhattan Interlude.
