"Chapter One" from Hellboy #2 (1997) kicks off with a chilling alliance: Nazi scientists Kroenen, Haupstein, and Von Krupt are approached in Norway by Roderick Zinco, who claims Rasputin has appeared to him and offers the Zinco Corporation’s resources to revive Project Ragna Rok. A year later, Hellboy and five other BPRD agents are dispatched to Romania to find Castle Giurescu before the body of the suspected vampire Vladimir Giurescu—stolen from a New York museum—can be reanimated.

In "Chapter Two," Hellboy finds himself trapped beneath Castle Giurescu after his clash with the Unmensch, where the skeletal remains of the vampire’s father whisper secrets of his son’s dark transformation. Above, Ilsa Haupstein is haunted by the spectral presence of Rasputin, while a shadowy gathering reads ancient texts foretelling the return of the Ogdru-Jahad.

In "Chapter Three," Hellboy battles Hecate’s lingering minions and a weakened Giurescu, racing to secure the crumbling Castle Giurescu before its secrets consume him. Meanwhile, Liz’s BPRD team uncovers a dormant homunculus in a remote Romanian castle—its sudden life sparked by her touch—and in Norway, Zinco delivers Von Klempt’s preserved head to Kroenen, while Rasputin reveals the truth of his own unnatural return.

In "Chapter Four," Hellboy’s fight with Hecate reaches its climax as Castle Giurescu collapses in a fiery explosion, witnessed from afar by Abe and Clark. Amid the wreckage, the Baba Yaga’s aide Koku delivers an iron maiden to Rasputin, who urges Ilsa to enter it, while Kurtz is fatally overpowered by Kroenen. As the villagers carry an unconscious Hellboy to a crossroads, they are met by Rasputin, who stands waiting in the shadows.

In "Chapter Five," Hellboy follows a cryptic signal to a crumbling Romanian church, where the long-dead Rasputin rises to confront Abe Sapien with a vengeance rooted in ancient betrayal. As the line between myth and mission blurs, Hellboy faces Giurescu and the enigmatic Hecate, who reveals unsettling truths about his fate as Anung un Rama, the Beast of the Apocalypse, watched silently by the shadowed Dagda. With Kate Corrigan arriving to deliver grim news about the fallen teams, the trail leads to a devastating confrontation at the Norwegian castle of Project Ragna Rok, where Rasputin’s return brings ruin in his wake.

In the shadowed depths of the underworld, Grigori Rasputin encounters Baba Yaga, the guardian of forgotten secrets and lost hearts—among them, his own. She offers him refuge, a place to rest beyond his endless schemes, but he refuses, still bound to ambitions too dark to surrender.
