Hellblazer #290

John Constantine has seen better days — this Simon Bisley cover drops the world-weary occult detective into what appears to be a freshly dug grave, battered and bloodied, surrounded by scattered cigarettes, liquor bottles, and pink flowers curling through the dirt around him, while a mysterious woman's leopard-print heel hovers at the edge above. It's a grimly striking image that captures the tone of "Another Season in Hell — Part Four: Back to Earth" with dark wit and unflinching grit. Peter Milligan's run on this Vertigo series consistently pushed Constantine to his limits, and issue #290 looks to be no exception.
